Contamination Protection
First of all, are you using plastic or wooden cutting boards? According to a study done in UCSD, wooden cutting boards actually eliminate bacteria by pulling them down below the surface where they don't multiply. As a result, they die off eventually. However, “With the plastic, after manual washing as I would do under my kitchen faucet, we could still recover bacteria from grooves."

That being said, let's take a look that can help further prevent contamination in your food.
Here I have 2 cutting boards and 2 knives.
Why?
On the right hand side, I use that board and Knife to cut meat and on the left hand side I use this board and Knife to cut vegetable, fruits, etc. By doing so, I reduce the chance of contamination from meat to fruits I want to eat, just another way to keep your food clean.
